Estate and Tax Planning

Wind the clock back 20 years and estate and tax planning was a process that only applied to a few larger landed estates.  However, with land values at a record high and the average house price exceeding the Inheritance Tax nil rate band, the importance of estate and tax planning, even for those with a few commercial lets and a couple of cottages, should not be underestimated.

Some land and property owners are frightened of tax planning as, historically, this often meant setting up elaborate trusts and paying professionals to run them for a generation or more.  However, there are some really simple tax saving opportunities available that can make a substantial difference to estate and tax planning.

Whilst Sworders are not accountants, we do work closely with our clients’ own accountants and solicitors.  We can assist clients by analysing their assets, scheduling them and being able to provide a regular taxation review (usually following any significant tax changes in a Budget).
