How we do it

Through experience, dedication and enthusiasm, Sworders produces results that often exceed the expectations of our clients.

We tailor our fee structure and approach to each individual instruction and will discuss a performance linked solution if it is appropriate.

We are able to provide a responsive and considered approach to each instruction and always look to align interests where possible. We will explore available opportunities to achieve the best result for our clients.

Our Vision

To provide a high quality and cutting edge service underpinned by traditional values.

Our vision is to provide high quality advice to clients with the aim of enhancing the value of their property portfolios. We can draw on a range of in-house specialist skills and are thus able to provide a holistic approach to our recommended strategies.

Whilst benefiting from a strong reputation as property professionals built up over 200 years of history, Sworders prides itself on a cutting edge approach – whether quoting the latest Case Law in seeking to secure a difficult planning consent or using bespoke software to assist clients in managing their property portfolios.

Our History

With roots dating back to 1782, Sworders has a long history of providing quality specialist professional advice. The name Sworders has been synonymous with professional property advice for over 200 years.

In the late 1980s, G E Sworder & Sons was divided into five separate parts and our current business was re-opened by Angus Hudson and Vernon Muskett, who started trading on 1st December 1989.  In 1997 the business moved from Bishop’s Stortford to Hadham Hall and, since that time, has grown in scale and diversity to offer a range of professional advice across surveying, planning and architectural disciplines.

Our Clients

Our clients range from traditional farms and estates to residential, commercial, leisure, retail, educational and charitable concerns.

When Angus Hudson first went into partnership with Vernon Muskett in December 1989, Sworders’ client base was principally made up of farmers whose income derived mainly from agriculture. Whilst diversifying their own business, Sworders has also assisted hundreds of farming businesses to diversify and pursue a variety of business opportunities.

Although agricultural and estate clients still comprise the largest element, Sworders’ client base now includes a number of national and regional charities, schools and a variety of business including FTSE 100 companies.

Our Aims

We assist clients by devising bespoke solutions to a variety of property related problems – whether dealing with property management, disposal, tax strategy or adding value through obtaining planning consents.

It is often the case that the clients’ objectives are formed from their understanding as to what could be achieved and on occasion we are able to deliver opportunities and schemes well beyond their aspirations.

At his (i.e. George Edward Sworder) death the Herts & Essex Observer described G E Sworder & Sons, as ‘a household name for all that was honest, upright and straightforward’
