With drought conditions continuing to impact farms across England, the Government has announced a package of measures to help farmers manage the challenges of this summer’s extreme dry weather.
Key measures include:
- Temporary adjustments to Environmental Land Management (ELM) agreements
- An additional £50 million for Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) 2026 Window 2 to help farmers adapt to drought resilience
- Up to £15 million of funding available through the Water Management Grant to support construction of on-farm reservoirs
The Government has also committed to making reservoir development easier through planning reforms and improving access to water by streamlining abstraction licence processes.
Full details are yet to be released but if you would like to discuss how these measures may benefit you, please contact the team at Sworders on 01823 426500.
