New Grant for Dairy Farmers
DEFRA has announced a new grant for dairy farmers in England of up to £10,000 each. This has been introduced to help offset the drop in demand for milk following the closure of many cafes, bars and restaurants due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Eligible dairy farmers will be entitled to up to £10,000 each, to cover 70% of their lost income during April and May to ensure they can continue to operate and sustain production capacity without impacts on animal welfare. Details on how to claim are yet to be released.
The Government has also backed a £1 million campaign to boost milk consumption and help producers use their surplus stock.
