There has been recent encouraging news in respect of Nutrient Neutrality, which has been holding up residential planning applications and construction projects across Norfolk over the last 17 months. Norfolk Environmental Credits has now announced that they are to set to release the first set of credits specifically created to offset nutrients resulting from new development projects. This should allow Local Planning Authorities to begin to unlock those planning applications delayed by nutrient neutrality and facilitate the granting of planning permissions. Unfortunately, at the moment, the credits will only apply to the Yare Catchment Area, although nevertheless, this is encouraging, and it is anticipated that credits will soon be available for the remaining catchment areas across Norfolk such as the Wensum and Bure.
