Applications open from 6 December 2022. The grants is available to livestock farmers in England, who are producers of slurry and farm either beef, dairy or pigs. It is available to those who want to improve or expand their slurry storage capacity to 6 months or want to fit an impermeable cover on their grant-funded stores. It is envisaged that this grant will allow farmers the opportunity, to make necessary upgrades beyond current regulations. It is expected that there will be a high demand, but it is anticipated that the grant will be run over multiple years and therefore please do not be put off, if you are not ready to apply in the first round.

The application process is a two-stage process:

Stage 1 – Online eligibility checker opens on 6 December 2022 and closes on 31 January 2023; the checker will be used to calculate how much storage you require to reach the 6 months requirement and in conjunction how much you could receive in funding.

Stage 2 – Full Application will be available after the 31 January 2023, once the Rural Payments Agency have identified the applications which have the highest environmental benefit, based on location and proximity to areas most in need of reducing pollution from agriculture.

Applicants can apply for a minimum of £25,000 and a maximum of £250,000, funding will be a contribution of 50% of current market costs.
