Solar Park – Wickham Hall Estate

Sworders have worked with the landowner on a proposed solar park on the Wickham Hall Estate near Little Hadham, Hertfordshire.

As part of the process, we advised on the commercial aspects of the scheme ensuring that the landowner’s interests remain protected.

The promoter, Endurance Estates, plan for 14,000 photovoltaic panels to be installed onto the land, which could still be used for grazing animals, and growing grass or wildflowers. The land would also remain a habitat for wildlife, including skylarks, grass snakes, newts and bats. Endurance state that the photovoltaic panels would take under 40 weeks to install, and have a lifespan of 40 years – producing 49.9MW of renewable energy for the National Grid.

There has been increasing demand for solar power in recent years, with renewables comprising 33% of energy generation for 2018, and over 1 million solar installations in the UK.

The interest in this type of development has increased significantly and its important to ensure that your interests are protected.
